Dodomeki - CDC "Yokai & Kami"

My entry for this month's Character Design Challenge, theme was "Yōkai and Kami". I had a lot of fun painting this creepy lady :)

Here's the backstory behind this painting:

"Jenny was an amazing dancer who toured the world with a lovely circus company, stealing each time one coin from each country she visited... until the company arrived in Japan.

One night, after a once again incredible show, she stole a coin, and before she knew it, she was cursed and she started turning into the Dodomeki.
As her craving for theft grew bigger and bigger, her arms too grew larger and got covered in hundreds of birds eyes.
Her fingers were turning into beaks, ripping through bags of money, stealing purses, and and soon enough, the last remnants of her human personality vanished."

This painting was inspired by a beautiful red-haired woman wearing a green hoodie, who tried to steal my purse in the metro in Paris, a few years ago.
She looked both high and scared, and her face was so unique that I can still remember it. When I read about the Dodomeki Yōkai, first thing that came to my mind was the face of this woman.

I had planned to add some more details (especially patterns) to her outfit, to texture the skin better and to refine the background but I got sick, so I had to call it done. At least I didn't miss this month's theme :)
